At Retama, our team is the driving force behind our success. We are a diverse group of passionate individuals, each bringing unique expertise and perspectives to the table. Together, we work collaboratively to achieve our goals and deliver exceptional results for our clients.

Retama Mineral Members

Mr. Jauer is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of GulfTex Energy. He has led a team that has successfully built and sold six private-equity-backed oil and gas companies since 2000. GulfTex Energy I was backed by EnCap Investments in 2006 and successfully monetized in 2010. GulfTex Energy II was funded by Wells Fargo, Prudential, Guggenheim and DE Shaw in 2011 and was successfully monetized in 2012. In 2012 GulfTex Karnes EFS was formed and capitalized by Wells Fargo and Prudential with a successful monetization occurring in 2016. GulfTex Energy III was backed by Wells Fargo, Prudential and GSO Capital in 2012 with a successful monetization of these assets also occurring in 2016. GulfTex Energy IV received an equity commitment from Wells Fargo, Prudential and GSO Capital in 2016 and the company was successfully sold in 2018/2019. Mr. Jauer is currently responsible for leading a team that is building a portfolio of oil and gas assets for GulfTex Energy V. GulfTex Energy V is funded by Wells Fargo, Prudential, Lincoln and GulfTex Management and is focused on building a portfolio of assets in the Eagle Ford Shale / Austin Chalk plays in South Texas. Mr. Jauer received a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Brad Jauer

Founder, Chairman, and CEO of GulfTex Energy
Mike is Vice President for Retama Minerals. He assumed the role in November of 2022. Prior to Retama Mike was Vice President of Land at GulfTex Energy since 2013. Prior to GulfTex, Mike was with Lewis Energy Group. Prior to working with Lewis, Mr. Williams had a diversified career that included working for the National Marine Fisheries Service in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, teaching high school in San Antonio, and working as an independent landman across Texas. Mr. Williams received a BS in biology from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos. When not attending to Retama business Mike can be found spending time with his family, traveling to state and national parks, bird hunting, or fishing in the bay systems of Texas.

Michael Williams

Vice President
Brandon Jennings is the Director for Retama. After earning his Energy Management degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2008, Brandon started working as a Landman. Before joining Retama in May of 2019 Brandon was Business Development/Project Manager for a large Oklahoma land brokerage. On his down time Brandon can be found with his family or racing sprint cars at race tracks in Texas and Oklahoma.

Troy Schmidt, Land Manager for Retama Minerals. He started this journey with Retama back in June 2019. In 2009 he began his land career working for a very reputable land services company where he learned all facets of the industry and later became a project manager. Troy is an outstanding friend and family man. When he’s not working you can find him coaching his kid’s teams in soccer, spending time at the lake with family, being outdoors and camping.
